Suspected arson fire at Choctaw Beach mobile home under investigation

CHOCTAW BEACH — The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the State Fire Marshal’s Office in investigating a suspicious residential fire late Thursday night.

Walton County Fire Rescue crews and sheriff's deputies responded to a home on Willow Avenue in Choctaw Beach at 9:24 p.m., according to a WCSO news release.

First responders saw smoke and flames coming from the rear of a single-wide mobile home when they arrived. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. No one was inside the residence and no injuries were reported.

Neighbors reported seeing someone flee from the back of the mobile home moments before it went up in flames, the WCSO reported.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified. The investigation was ongoing later Friday.
