Typically, but not exclusively, it is accomplished with mechanized off-road-capable transport where the principal form of lodging is camping, often lasting for extended lengths of time and spanning international boundaries.”

Now that we’ve covered overlanding, an overland vehicle is one that’s able to handle all types of terrain. It provides the driver with all the essentials, for instance, a place to sleep or a place they can prepare food. Here are the 10 best overland vehicles according to U.S. News.

The Ford Transit lineup recently received a refresh. Some updates include available all-wheel drive and a power-sliding door for added convenience. Ford’s standard safety systems, Co-Pilot 360, feature everything from automatic high beams to pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking.

You may be wondering what the Rubicon trim level means. All Jeep Wrangler Rubicon models all come equipped with front and rear locking differentials, off-road shocks, 33-inch tires, and an electronic sway bar disconnect.

Toyota Tacoma trucks will never go out of style. They feature a 9.4-inch ground clearance, and you can also customize your ride to your liking. For example, you can add on a bed shell with an attached rooftop tent.

Those looking for an alternative to the Tacoma will often turn to the Toyota 4Runner. There’s plenty of cargo space for all the gear you need to bring along for the ride. Hopefully, there’s a redesign planned soon.

Next on the U.S. News list is the EXP Dual-Cab. This overland vehicle can fit inside a standard shipping container and seat up to six in the cab. EarthCruisers come equipped with separate power systems from the truck battery and engine. You’ll also have access to onboard water and power.

The EarthRoamer LTi is based on a Ford F-550 cab and chassis, so you know it’s ready for any adventure. Its ground clearance is 12.5-inches, and the standard tire is a 41-inch Continental MPT-81. All models include a wet bath with a toilet, shower, and sink.
