The “Shiny Metal” house by award-winning Colorado architect Harry Teague is not for everyone, but for those into postmodernism, it is sure to entice. Built in 1984 for an artist couple, the striking two-story structure features a metal-clad facade on the upper level punctuated by small square windows framed in turquoise. The facade of the lower level is painted purple, and a strip of translucent windows runs horizontally between the floors.

The lower level originally comprised two painting studios and a storage space. They were converted into expansive guest bedrooms and a small (also colorful) kitchen during a 1992 renovation.
